Who We Are
When Chicago Patrolmen’s Federal Credit Union was first established in 1938, it was very much a “blue shirts” organization, with membership open only to Police Officers “on the beat” and their immediate family members. By 1949, Chicago Patrolmen’s Federal Credit Union had grown to over $1 million in assets. During this period, the Credit Union’s Board of Directors implemented a “once a member, always a member” policy. This membership policy permits members to maintain their Chicago Patrolmen’s Federal Credit Union accounts when they move up in the ranks, or retire. Both of these policies continue to be critical to the growth and success of the Credit Union.
Chicago Patrolmen’s is and always has been administered by a Board of Directors consisting entirely of current and former Chicago Police Officers. Today, Chicago Patrolmen’s serves Police Officers of all ranks—from the newest recruits to the Superintendent of Police, as well as Police family members. We also serve the financial needs of full-time Chicago Police Department Personnel, the Employees of the Office of Emergency Management Communications, Police Officers and full-time employees of select police departments and Police organizations as well as their families.
Chicago Patrolmen’s now serves over 43,000 members and has assets in excess of $591.5M. Despite our expansion, Chicago Patrolmen’s mission remains the same as it was in the beginning: “serve the financial needs of Police Officers and their families in order to help them realize their life’s goals.” Everyday, Chicago Patrolmen’s strives to fulfill its mission by providing members with competitive financial products and services that facilitate borrowing, promote thrift, and encourage wise money management.
Chicago Patrolmen’s Federal Credit Union is a full-service financial institution. We offer a full complement of lending and savings products as well as a host of additional services. In addition to all its traditional financial services, Chicago Patrolmen’s offers personalized service to each of its 38,000-plus members. The Board, Management, and Staff of the Credit Union strive to help members in any way we can. We make every effort to listen to our members’ concerns, save them money and provide them with financial knowledge and education.
